The still image shows the area around the landing site of the Apollo 17 (1972) (between "Monte Taurus" from north to south in the lower center). The left side is "Mare Serenitatis."

Kaguya/HDTV took the world's first high definition image data of the Moon from an altitude about 100 kilometers away from the Moon on Oct. 31, 2007. This still image was cut out from a moving image.
